WCU Hosts CLEANcarolinas to Discuss Alignment with EPIIC Grant

Western Carolina University faculty recently hosted CLEANcarolina representatives to discuss the university’s recently-awarded National Science Foundation (NSF) Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity (EPIIC) grant and tour WCU’s Rapid Center.

As an NSF-funded initiative, CLEANcarolinas serves as a development engine in the broader context of the NSF Regional Innovation Engines program. Through a blend of research and development, investment, education, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, CLEANcarolinas aims to catalyze an innovation ecosystem specific to clean energy, thereby fostering innovation, driving economic growth, and enhancing the region’s competitiveness.

The WCU Rapid Center is a research and development facility whose primary mission is to partner with businesses, advanced manufacturing industries, and entrepreneurs to develop new products and processes.
