WCU Engineering Students Tackle Real-World Problems for Local Industry Partners

Over the 2023-24 academic year, 84 of Western Carolina University’s School of Engineering + Technology students worked on 25 sponsored projects as part of the WCU Engineering Capstone program. Capstone projects allow students to integrate engineering training with project management skills as interdisciplinary student teams tackle open-ended, real-world engineering problems for our industry partners.

Projects involved research and problem solving for a variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, military, medical, and outdoor gear, to name a few.

Visit the WCU Engineering and Technology department website to learn more about each project’s research and conclusions and to find out how to become a 2024-25 project sponsor.
